Multiples
This artists editions and multiples project explores editions and multiples as economic systems for creative practice. Students, staff and independent artists and publishers will be invited to take part in a series of events which generate income for students, provide opportunities for professional networking, and become a regular event in the University calendar.
Artists Multiples and Editions are accessible works of art which explore systems of price and distribution, gift economies and ecologies of practice. Artworks are made available, produced for sharing and everyday life. For students who are interested in developing communities, as well as for those interested in entrepreneurial practice and commercial sales, multiples offer ways to develop audiences. A live public facing project, the practice of making editions and multiples informs students about finance and professional practice, and brings them into contact with high profile invited artists in a non-hierarchical environment. Organised by Fine Art Photography at Camberwell and emerging from projects by Melinda Gibson (Gareth McConnell print event) and Duncan Wooldridge (co-founder, object | multiple), the UAL Multiples Fair will be developed through a series of scaling pilots (already begun) growing from course-level to programme-level, to a University wide project with a public programme and high profile keynote speakers.
